I’ll admit, I have had a fondness for this monstrous, hideous winged, clawed man-octopus for some years, even before reading the story in Lovecraft introduced him (it?) to the world. Hey, I even featured Cthulhu in a recent WW post! I was a bit surprised, though, to find two statues depicting what appears to be the Great Old One in the midst of one of the Happiest Places on Earth.
Without further ado… The Images!
I found the first while wheeling across the bridge from Africa to Discovery Island, in a smallish “ravine”. I did a double triple-take, as I wasn’t sure if the eyes were playing tricks on me or not.
Later, while wandering through Asia, I spotted this statue, at an easier viewing height:
